Earlier this afternoon in Toronto, it was Game 4 of the Calder Cup Final between the Toronto Marlies and the Norfolk Admirals. The Admirals had a 3-0 series lead going into the game and were looking to capture their first Calder Trophy in Franchise History. 6 minutes in, Panik scored to make it 1-0 Admirals. Late in the first with the Marlies on a 5 on 3 powerplay, Calborne played the puck over to Zigomanis at the side of the net and he scored to tie the game. 4 minutes into the second, Kostka scored to regain the lead for the Admirals. Late in the second, Johnson scored on a shot from the point to make it 3-1.
44 seconds into the third, Kostka would make it 4-1.Then with 10 minutes left to play, the Marlies were on a powerplay and they decided to pull their goalie which lead to a empty net goal by Johnson to put the game out of reach. That was the first time in Pro Hockey history that a team pulled a goalie with 10 minutes to play.Labrie would add another goal to make it 6-1 as the Norfolk Admirals win their first Calder Cup in Franchise history. In the win, Tokarski made 31 saves. In the loss, Scrivens made 13 saves. So this will end the AHL'S Western Conference Champions, Toronto Marlies Cup run as they got swept in the Finals. So the new 2012 AHL champions are the Norfolk Admirals.
