BULLDOGS TRAINING CAMP BEGINS

Friday in Sherbrooke, the Hamilton Bulldogs were back to work and getting ready for the 2012-13 season. 43 Players were on hand and hope that they can make it to the next best thing to the NHL, the AHL. With the NHL lockout in progress, more attention will be put onto the AHL and the Bulldogs. So they better be ready to play come October 13th, especially if the games get televised (which is a high possibility).“I’m excited to get going. I’ve spent the last few months since I was named coach thinking of new ideas and strategies and preparing for the season,” said Lefebvre, who was appointed new as the new coach in June. “It’s fun to get things started today. When you’re a coach, all you want to do is lace up the skates and get out there with your team. Preparation is all well and good but there’s nowhere you want to be more than with your players.” The Bulldogs season begins on October 13th when Hamilton travel to Grand Rapids to take on the Griffins.

AHL GAMES TO BE TELEVISED DURING NHL LOCKOUT

With the NHL Lockout looking like more and more like a full season lockout, we may see some AHL games as fillers on select channels."The effect then was a window of opportunity for the American League to have a greater presence from a media perspective across North America and certainly more live television exposure, and to some extent an even stronger player pool than we normally have," AHL president and CEO David Andrews said. "I'm anticipating that will be the case again this time." It has been reported that the AHL have been talking to NBC, CBC, TSN & Rogers Sportsnet about the possibility of televising their games. But if any network will be broadcasting the AHL games it would be Sportsnet and CBC as they own the rights to the majority of the games until 2016. But that doesn't mean that they can't share the rights.

I think they will as a matter of fact there is a rumour saying that the AHL will be televised in Canada on TSN, Sportsnet & CBC during the duration of the lockout. But with no NHL regular Season games being cancelled yet, its unlikely that it will be announced this week. But the NHL is ready to announce more cancellations of games by end of this week after the Friday negotiations.  So lets wait until the first week of October to see where the AHL games will be televised.
