CANADA SENDS RUSSIA HOME WITH A SURPRISING SCORE OF 7-3

Yesterday in Vancouver, Canada took on Russia in the quarter final. It was a very entertaining game but not what anyone expect as Canada beat the Russians by the score of 7-3.
"It just shows the character of the team," defenseman Dan Boyle told NHL.com. "Obviously, we didn't have a great start to the tournament, but we showed up (Tuesday) night (in an 8-2 win over Germany) and we showed up tonight and we had a big first period. It's a credit to the players we have and the team we have." The game winning goal was scored by Morrow in the first (it was Canada's forth goal in that frame). The keys to the victory in this game for Canada is they kept the stars on Russia quite. Especially Ovechkin who was wearing half of the lucky looney that they put at center Ice in Russia. But there loony wasn't as lucky as Canada's that Canada put at center ice in 2002(when they won gold).

"He said it was going to be a tough night - and it was, skating with Ovy," said Nash. "In these types of tournaments, you don't have just one set role. It's not just score goals. It's not just play defensively. You pretty much have to do everything - make big hits when you can. That's what I tried to do - chip in everywhere. I thought Jonathan and Mike did the same thing. We had a great night."In the victory, Perry (had 2 goals), Nash,Boyle,Weber,Getzlaf and Morrow scored for Canada in the blow-out victory. Canada knew that since they beat Russia they would play either Sweden or Slovakia based on who would win that game. Well we know now that they will face Slovakia since they upset the Sweds with a 4-3 victory. That Game will be on Friday at 9:30pm E.t and 6:30 P.t.
